Xbox seems to update the app decently, and could be the go-to Plex client if they wanted, but aren't quite there, and Sony.they just DGAF about their apps lol I think I uninstalled it on there. Note, however, that values lower than 1 may result in graphical glitches so it’s generally best to keep the value at or above 100 percent. You can even enter values lower than 1, such as 0.5, if you have an especially large display. The issue appears both with palying the original as well as when transcoding, both on Windows and on the iPad. For example, entering 1.5 instead of 1 will give you 150 percent scaling. Plex does not seem to even do tone mapping for the SRD Windows computer.

Like some hardware manufacturer should just make a small dongle with remote (like CCwGTV) and market it as being able to natively play every damn legacy codec/container on the planet, as well as current ones and even ones that are new but mostly unused in media streaming for future proofing.ĬCwGTV actually plays almost anything (Dolby Vision included) but is missing that TrueHD audio.and a few other things I can't think of at the moment. Everything is purple, both on the Windows player (on a computer that does not support HDR) as well as on the iPad app on the M1 iPad pro (that supports HDR).

I serve up to 11 users on mine and it's crazy keeping track of what everyone uses. CnX Media Player enables you to cast or stream (Play to TV) videos from your Windows 10. I think the Shield is that device (unofficially) but I just don't get how there isn't a "partnered" Plex client device. 265 (HEVC) transcoding at 4K resolutions mandates 10-bit color. I'm just glad that it's possible and one day it'll be common.Ĭlick to shrink.I just have to laugh, the sheer amount of variables between Plex, the client chosen, and all the codec/container combos is bananas. But it seems like with everything else, formats will be cracked/broken eventually so it was only a matter of time. I'm just more relieved than anything, because some people felt that it might not be possible to do, or there would be issues with how it's done. A conflict occurs when all devices are using the same server. So for me personally, I'm just ripping things into a mkv knowing that at some point, it will just all work without having to figure out what's the right hardware and software combination that will play it back. If you are using many devices, the media player may stop working if there is a device conflict. Right now it's just growing pains because it's so new and it hasn't trickled down to everything but I fully expect that down the road, mkv will be the primary way people store DV content. This was all because the mkv container just didn't support it so it was great that it was worked out that DV would be officially incorporated into the container which is great rather than it being some unofficial hack or something. Plex offers a few advantages over a traditional streaming media box, but they’re pretty big ones.

Ya, the M2TS format was the initial way that people got it working and then there was the demux from the M2TS to extract the contents and then to put it all into a mp4 which took a bit more effort to do the conversion that also worked.
